Peaches N Cream Smoothie

A taste of summer: fresh and frosty peach smoothies!
A taste of summer: fresh and frosty peach smoothies!

I love peach season. They can be a little tricky to grow here in Illinois. Sometimes the winters are just too hard on the trees, or the blossoms get frosted in spring. But oh, when things are just right, so are they.

This year seems to be a good year for peaches. None of my peach trees are producing yet, but the roadside stands have some delicious ones. My mother in law brought me these from a local farmer’s market, and they were good. Not that I got many. Most of them ended up in Little Foodie’s and Teen Foodie’s bellies. But at least they’re snacking on something healthy!

This smoothie is also very healthy, and a delicious way to start the day. I make them ahead of time and pop them in the freezer. If you take them out the night before, they’ll thaw all the way through. Sometimes I forget and end up with more of a smoothie “ice cream” or “gelato” type of thing. Still delicious! All of my smoothies are great as popsicles too.

This fresh, peachy smoothie is delicious and creamy. Use whatever milk or yogurt you like. Almond milk would be a nice compliment to peaches. Coconut might be a bit more on the exotic side. Vanilla soy would be good too. I used whole milk because I like the creaminess. The plain yogurt also adds a nice tang, kind of like cheesecake.

I was going to use whipped topping on these smoothies, since whipped cream melts so fast. But somehow, an entire POUND of it disappeared!
I was going to use generic cool whip on these smoothies, since whipped cream melts so fast. But somehow, an entire POUND of it disappeared!
I mean, really??? How did they manage to eat an entire POUND of cool whip???
