In the Garden This Week

My pineapple mint doesn't mind the rain!
My pineapple mint doesn’t mind the rain!

With all the rain we’ve had lately, it feels like our garden will never get done. The weeds, and the bunnies, seem to be winning. But I’m trying to focus on the positive, because there are things blooming, growing and doing well. I thought it would be fun to post a regular photo diary of what’s going on in the garden.

There's too much rain to do much in the our "Someday Garden", so no progress has been made, except by the rabbits. They've managed to eat an entire bed of tomatoes and peppers because we haven't been able to get the fence up yet.

They've also snipped most of the strawberries.

At least the rhubarb has survived its move and is coming up nicely.

I love cute bunnies, but they're just not that cute when they eat anything and everything! The trees they gnawed are actually making a come back. It's ironic, since I replaced so much of them thinking they were dead.

Now I will have extra, like these baby peach trees. I need to get fencing around them soon before they gnaw those too.

Our comfrey is going gangbusters and have attracted the biggest bumble bees I've ever seen.

The rugosa roses are also doing well.

Garlic scapes are coming on. They are such a wonderful reason to grow garlic, besides the actual garlic bulbs themselves. This is my second year growing garlic and I'll never go back to store bought! You can use ALL of the garlic plant. Every part is delicious!

And mulberries are coming on strong! Time to put them in smoothies and sprinkle them over apple noodles and everything else!
